CNSG Membership Structure and Benefits

CommerceNet Singapore's (CNSG) members provide the resources essential to advance the adoption of CNSG Standards and Committee work. Education, media outreach, public demonstrations, conference participation, proof-of-concepts, pilot projects -- all the activities necessary to promote widespread adoption -- are made possible by CNSG members.

Membership

Organisations join the Consortium because CNSG technical work is important to their business. They contribute to existing CNSG Committees or introduce new work to the technical agenda to whatever extent they choose. Members benefit by being recognized in the industry for their contributions to CNSG. They protect their investment in the development of technology standards by funding adoption activities that ensure those standards will be used.

Organisations should join CNSG if they are:

  • Technology leader in their field
  • A large user or implementer of standards-compliant technology seeking to influence and shape standards development to ensure business requirements are met and staff stay informed of key developments
  • An established techonology vendor providing products or services based on standards
  • A national government agency wanting to minimize overlap of standards
  • Any organisation that finds value in having its contributions to open standards publicly recognized in CNSG promotional materials, press releases, newsletters, and public Committee web pages.
MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS
  • Engage in the spirit of an open consortium which focuses on emerging global and industry-wide issues and technologies so members can benefits from economies of scale and avoid competitive efforts that inhibit the ongoing growth of electronic commerce.
  • Agree to abide by the Memorandum and Article of Association of the Company and all its rules and regulations, as amended from time to time.

    • Vote on CNSG member business, including CNSG Standards (one vote per organisation)

    • Vote for CNSG Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Board (one vote per organisation)
  • VETO Pilot Projects

Corporate Member

  • CommerceNet Core Services
  • Locally developed services & programs
  • Special priviledges
    • Involve an unlimited number of employees in CNSG activities
    • Vote on CNSG member business, including CNSG Standards (one vote per organisation)
    • Nominate candidates for Technical Advisory Board
    • Vote for CNSG Technical Advisory Board (one vote per organisation)

Associate Member
CommerceNet Core Services only

Associate membership is intended to provide a transitional path for underfunded organisations. Membership is limited to not-for-profit associations, societies & SME.

SME membership is limited to a trial period of one year. This is not renewable. At the end of the year, Associate members may sign up as Foundation member or Corporate Member. The current CNSG criteria for SME are as follows:

  • Locally-registered
  • 30% ownership by Singaporean/PR
  • Net book value less than S$1 million
  • Total employment of less than 20 employees
  

CNSG Consultative Partner
By invitation only

Membership includes CommerceNet Core Services for individual consumption only.

Consultative Partners participate in various Pilot Projects and Special Projects, including assisting other needy organisations that seek assistance from CNSG.

Consultative Partner provides opportunity for those who are unable to join CNSG through an employer, with a means to participate meaningfully in the technical work of the Consortium.

Consultative Partner should ensure that they are not obligated by an implicit or implied employment agreement under which they have assigned ownership of their intellectual property to another party or organisation. Such an assignment of intellectual property rights is typical of many employment agreements and some consulting contracts.

Consultative Partners who are interested to represent companies/businesses, industrial interest or promote/sell proprietary interests services & products may do so only if they register with CommerceNet in advance.

  • Open-group discussion via invitation

CommerceNet Core Services

General Services

  • Executive Briefings to share your business news with CNSG and CNSG information portal editors
  • Executive Briefings with CNSG senior management to align strategies and Committee participation
  • Receive recognition in CNSG press releases announcing:
    • new CNSG Committees in which you are represented
    • ratification of CNSG Standards to which you contributed
    • CNSG InterOp demonstrations in which you participate
  • Provide company quotes for CNSG press announcements on work of interest to your organisation
  • Gain visibility with your organisation's name featured on the main web page of each CNSG Committee in which you are represented
  • Showcase your standards compliance by participating in CNSG InterOp demonstrations at major conferences and events
  • Receive identification in CNSG InterOp marketing materials
  • Optionally host an CNSG Open Standards Day event in your area to publicize your involvement in CNSG and increase local awareness of CNSG work
  • Promote your leadership role by posting CNSG Member logo on your website and other promotional materials
  • Take advantage of member discounts at selected industry conferences

CommerceNet Research

  • Participate in all research portfolios
  • Take advantage of research conducted specially for CommerceNet Members on behalf of the consortium
  • Access to ongoing reports and research relating to eCommerce marketplace
