[ 3 May 2005 ] CNSG CEO Visits Mauritius Cyber City

CommerceNet Singapore's (CNSG) Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jeh Shyan Wong led a working delegation of business, technology and development team on a working visit to Mauritius Cyber City to identify and discuss with Mauritian technology companies for potential pilot projects in the booming technology park.

Among the potential area of discussion is to support a high rise technology building within the cyber city area. Also under consideration are various proposals for technology buildings adjacent to Mauritius Cyber City - offered by local developers. The Technology Park Expert Group that followed CNSG is of the opinion that despite being a rather recent initiative, the planning of the technology park is rather dated, if not obsolete. The TPEG advised that technology park is still workable, with the right software mix rather than current concentration on hardware development. There is currently a lack of clustering focus that makes the park unimageable, and dull.

The delegations also met up with both Mauritian hardware and software distribution companies, call centres as well as local developers.

CNSG will lead another follow up delegation in June to finalise some outstanding issues.
